In the early morning hours after the gig, en route for a box of matches, Mark slipped on the icy pavement and broke his thigh bone. A woman tried to help him up but they both slipped and fell; this time Mark's hip was fractured. Needless to say the rest of the tour was postponed, although Mark did appear at the Bridgewater Hall event on 6 March (in a wheelchair), and the Fall played Liverpool and Birmingham before leaving for the United States on 5 April.
