The Manchester Evening News had a cracking headline today:
MANCHESTER MAN MAY BE BEHEADED
Even better was his mother's comment: "I don't want him to be beheaded".
Hi, perhaps this has been already noted but I came across an free (legal)
mp3 download of a cover version of "Rebellious Jukebox" on the Matador
Records site. It's by The Wisdom of Harry (aka Pete Astor) and can be
found at www.matadoreurope.com . Haven't had a chanve to have a lsiten yet
but I'm sure some fallfans out there are interested.
Almost entirely unrelated to The Fall, but:
"The Prefects are reforming for a couple of gigs - one in
Wolverhampton on 17th September and one in Birmingham on the 19th
September. It's kind of a Robert Lloyd/Prefects/Nightingales thing in that
they'll probably be playing a shortish selection of stuff from Robert's
career, but almost the original line-up will be together:
Robert Lloyd
Paul Apperley
Eamonn Duffy
Alan Apperley
The occasion for the first gig (Monday 17th) can be found at
www.wlv.ac.uk/no-future
The occasion for the second is a gig by Tank Byrchmore's band 'Gorgeous'
which is at the Railway in Birmingham on Wednesday - Prefects will support."
Not sure if I've highlighted this site before:

Supposedly MES has recorded a spoken word thing to be played during the
performance.

-------------------------------------------
Fall, the.
English punk rock group. Its principal member, Mark E(dward) Smith (b
Manchester, 5 March 1957), formed the group in Manchester in 1977 with
guitarist Martin Bramah. Their first recording, Bingo Master's Breakout
(Step Forward, 1978), an eerie piece which mixed fragments of local
popular culture with punk rock influences from New York and London, formed
the matrix of Smith's later work. Over the next two decades the Fall
released almost 30 albums, of which Live at the Witch Trials (Step
Forward, 1979), and This Nation's Saving Grace (Beggars Banquet, 1985) and
Disintegration (1989) were among the most outstanding. Built around
Smith's fractured lyrics and ranting vocal style, the Fall has remained
unaffected by trends in pop music and maintained the oppositional spirit
of the early English punk movement, although the musical frame has shifted
slightly since 1977, moving from indie guitar-based rock towards 1990s
dance rhythms. Among Smith's musical collaborators in the group have been
Brix E. Smith and Marc Riley (guitars), Gavin Friday (vocals), Nigel
Kennedy (violin) and Julia Nagle (keyboards). Smith wrote a play
Hey! Luciani which was staged in London in 1986, and composed the music
for Michael Clarke's ballet, I am Kurious, Oranj (1988).
